John Rasmussen - Film & Television Editor / Producer

As a young child, John grew up ice fishing on a dairy farm while speaking the native 'Cari-bu' in the Eastern Provinces of Canada. With an ear to the ground, John's Scotian curiosity lead him West to a Bachelors degree in theatre. Being on stage enlightened John to gain experience in technical theatre, directing and screenwriting, which ultimately led to a job at a local theatre company. All these building blocks made it easy to transition into various aspects of film work, and for the next four to five years John worked various jobs in film and television. But building sets, running props and doing graphic work started to become a bit unsatisfying... his heart just started to fall out of it.

And then! With help from a Dell 'payment plan' (said 'plan' added a zillion dollars to the laptop’s price) things started to click, and after many bizarre audio mash-ups on Sony ACID, horribly loud picture collages, and some utterly weird ICQ revelations, John decided to take a nine month editing course at film school, and he graduated with honors. Since then, he's edited shows for Bravo, A&E, HGTV, Lifetime, Discovery, HISTORY and Animal Planet, and he has worked on multiple independent and feature productions.

For what it's worth, after a decade of cutting both film and television, his heart hasn't fallen and he still enjoys the puzzle, the greenroom and the pantry. Oh, and ice fishing.
